Cancellations & refunds

We know plans change. These are the general cancellation terms by type of service and how we process refunds.

Last updated: Version: 3.2 Jurisdiction: Dominican Republic ES · EN · PT · FR

01. General principle

MyDominicanTrip offers free cancellation on most services provided it is requested with adequate notice. Each product shows its specific policy at booking — this page summarizes the default deadlines.

Specific vs. general policy

If the product's specific policy is more favorable than these general terms, the product's policy prevails.

02. Tours and excursions

More than 48 h before the tour100% (full refund)
Between 24 and 48 h before50%
Less than 24 h or no-showNo refund

Weather exception: if the operator cancels due to bad weather (rough seas, official alert), 100% refund or free rescheduling.

03. Accommodations

Flexible policy (default)

Between 14 and 7 days50%
Less than 7 daysNo refund, but future credit

Strict policy (some luxury hotels and high season)

100% refund only up to 30 days before; between 30 and 14 days, 50%; less than 14 days, no refund. This is clearly indicated at booking.

04. Transfers

More than 24 h100%
Between 6 and 24 h50%
Less than 6 h or no-showNo refund

If your flight is canceled or delayed more than 4 hours, we offer free rescheduling or a 100% refund — we just need the airline's proof.

05. Car rental

Notice before pickupCharge
More than 48 h beforeNo charge (100% refund)
Between 24 and 48 h30% of the total
Less than 24 h or no-show1 rental day

06. How we process the refund

The refund is always made to the original payment method:

  • Card: 5–7 business days to appear in your account (depends on the issuing bank).
  • PayPal: 1–3 business days.
  • Pay later: no refund needed (no charge was made).

Bank or card processing fees (~3%) are non-refundable.

07. Credit for future bookings

For late cancellations or no-shows, we offer a credit for the amount paid, valid for 12 months, applicable to any service on the platform. The credit is personal (non-transferable) but can be used in installments.

08. Force majeure

In cases of force majeure — hurricanes, official travel alerts, airport closures, declared pandemics — all affected services are refunded 100% or rescheduled free of charge, at the customer's choice.

If the force majeure occurs during the service, MyDominicanTrip will cover immediate assistance; additional expenses (emergency accommodation, extra transfers) are the customer's responsibility and travel insurance is recommended.

09. Claims

If your claim is due to a service failure (operator did not show up, accommodation does not match the description, vehicle in poor condition), contact us within 14 days of the service at reclamaciones@mydominicantrip.com with photos and a detailed description.

We respond within 5 business days with a resolution: partial or full refund, credit, or replacement of the service.
