18 zones

Where to stay

The main zones of the country, with their airport and the kind of places you find in each. Pick one and we look for options there.

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
PUJ · 10 to 40 minutes

Punta Cana

The shortest distance between landing and a beach chair in the country. Most hotels are within half an hour of the terminal and the tour operators are all here.

Where to stay: All-inclusive resorts, plus villas inland for groups that want their own house.

Cap Cana, Dominican Republic
PUJ · 10 to 20 minutes

Cap Cana

A gated resort community just south of Punta Cana, with a marina for sport fishing, the white sand of Juanillo beach and the Punta Espada golf course, designed by Jack Nicklaus.

Where to stay: Luxury hotels, villas with staff and condos around the marina.

Bávaro, Dominican Republic
PUJ · 25 to 45 minutes

Bávaro

The beach north of Punta Cana, with more hotels per kilometre than anywhere else in the country and shops and restaurants behind it.

Where to stay: Large all-inclusive resorts along the beach, apartments and villas set back from it.

Uvero Alto, Dominican Republic
PUJ · 35 to 50 minutes

Uvero Alto

The northern end of the Punta Cana coast: long, wide beaches lined with palms and much quieter than Bávaro, for those who want the resort without the crowd.

Where to stay: Large all-inclusive resorts, several adults-only; few villas.

Bayahibe, Dominican Republic
LRM · 20 to 30 minutes from La Romana

Bayahibe

A fishing village that became a small resort zone without losing the village. Boats to Saona and Catalina leave from here.

Where to stay: Mid-size resorts, apartments and villas; a handful of small hotels in the village.

La Romana, Dominican Republic
LRM · 15 to 25 minutes

La Romana

A working city with a resort economy attached and the country's golf and marina destination. Casa de Campo and Altos de Chavón are here.

Where to stay: Resorts and villas around the marina, plus hotels in the city.

Juan Dolio, Dominican Republic
SDQ · 15 to 35 minutes

Juan Dolio

The closest beach to Santo Domingo and its airport. For anyone flying into SDQ it removes the long transfer.

Where to stay: Mid-range all-inclusives and apartment blocks along the shore.

Boca Chica, Dominican Republic
SDQ · 10 to 15 minutes

Boca Chica

A shallow, calm lagoon protected by a reef, the favourite weekend beach of Santo Domingo and the closest one to Las Américas airport. La Caleta underwater park is next door.

Where to stay: Small hotels, apartments and a few all-inclusives on the beach.

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
SDQ · 30 to 45 minutes

Santo Domingo

The oldest continuously inhabited European city in the Americas. The Zona Colonial is walkable and genuinely old; the rest is a working capital.

Where to stay: City hotels, boutique properties in the Zona Colonial, apartments.

Samaná, Dominican Republic
AZS · 40 minutes from AZS

Samaná

A green peninsula with the country's most dramatic coastline. Humpback whales come into the bay between mid-January and mid-March.

Where to stay: Boutique hotels, eco-lodges and villas; few large resorts.

Las Terrenas, Dominican Republic
AZS · 40 minutes

Las Terrenas

A beach town on the Samaná peninsula where you can walk to dinner, and where a week without a resort makes sense.

Where to stay: Villas, apartments and small hotels; a handful of all-inclusives outside town.

Las Galeras, Dominican Republic
AZS · about 1h 15m from AZS

Las Galeras

A fishing village at the tip of the Samaná peninsula and the door to some of the country's wildest beaches: Playa Rincón, Playa Frontón and Playa Madama.

Where to stay: Guesthouses, villas and small hotels; no large resorts.

Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic
POP · 15 to 30 minutes

Puerto Plata

The north coast and the country's original tourist zone: a real city with a Victorian centre, a cable car and a fort, with Sosúa and Cabarete beside it.

Where to stay: All-inclusives at Playa Dorada, town hotels, apartments in Sosúa and Cabarete.

Cabarete y Sosúa, Dominican Republic
POP · 15 to 30 minutes

Cabarete y Sosúa

Two beach towns east of Puerto Plata. Sosúa has a calm bay for swimming and snorkelling; Cabarete is one of the best-known kitesurfing and windsurfing beaches in the Caribbean.

Where to stay: Apartments, condos and small hotels near the beach; a few all-inclusives.

Jarabacoa, Dominican Republic
STI · about 1h 15m from STI

Jarabacoa

The mountains in the centre of the country: rivers, waterfalls such as Jimenoa and Baiguate, rafting on the Yaque del Norte and cool nights all year.

Where to stay: Cabins, mountain villas and small hotels; no all-inclusive resorts.

Constanza, Dominican Republic
STI · about 2h from STI

Constanza

The highest valley in the Caribbean, at about 1,200 metres: strawberry and flower farms, pine forests, the Valle Nuevo national park and nights that can get close to freezing in winter.

Where to stay: Cabins with fireplaces, mountain villas and small hotels.

Miches, Dominican Republic
PUJ · around 1h 30m

Miches

The newest resort zone in the country, on a bay between mountains and a beach. Fewer hotels, fewer people.

Where to stay: A small number of new all-inclusive resorts, plus villas.

Barahona y Pedernales, Dominican Republic
SDQ · about 3h from SDQ

Barahona y Pedernales

The southwest, where the mountains meet the sea: rivers that run into the beach, larimar, Lake Enriquillo with its iguanas and, further on, Bahía de las Águilas, one of the most untouched beaches of the Caribbean.

Where to stay: Small hotels, eco-lodges and cabins; very few resorts.

Kinds of place

Villa

A whole house with private bedrooms and shared living areas, often with its own pool. It suits families and groups that want space and their own schedule.

Apartment

Your own kitchen and living room inside a building or a gated complex. It works well for longer stays and for people who want to cook some meals.

Beach house

A house on the sand or a short walk from it, usually in quieter towns such as Las Terrenas, Juan Dolio or the coast around Samaná.

Hotel or resort

Daily service, restaurants and pools on site; in Punta Cana, Bávaro, Bayahibe and Puerto Plata many offer an all-inclusive plan.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do I book a stay with My Dominican Trip?

Fill in the request form on this page with the town, your dates, the number of guests and bedrooms, your budget and what the place must have. Our team looks for villas, apartments or hotels that match and sends you the options with photos and price by WhatsApp, phone or email.

Does sending the request cost anything?

No. The request is free and does not ask for a card. It tells our team what you are looking for so we can send you real options and prices. If none of them suits you, you simply do not confirm, and nothing is charged or reserved in your name. You can also ask us to keep looking.

Which area of the country should I stay in?

It depends on the trip. Punta Cana and Bávaro suit a first visit and large groups; Bayahibe is close to Saona and Catalina; Santo Domingo is for history and city life; Samaná and Las Terrenas are greener and quieter. The zone guide on this page compares them.

What types of places can you find?

Villas, apartments, beach houses and hotels or resorts, depending on the zone. In the form you can choose one type or leave "no preference", and tick what matters, such as a private pool, beachfront, a full kitchen, parking or pets allowed. We only send places that meet it.

Can you pick me up when I arrive?

Yes. In the arrival step choose your airport, cruise terminal or marina, the date and time, and tick that you need us to pick you up. We include a private transfer to the place in the same quote, so the driver is waiting when you land. Add the flight or ship number so we can follow delays.

How do I pay for the stay?

The form asks which method you prefer: card, PayPal, cash or bank transfer. It is a preference, not a payment. When we send the quote we tell you which methods that place accepts and how the booking is confirmed, before you pay anything. Nothing is charged through this form.

Can I add tours or a car to the same trip?

Yes. In the "Anything else?" step you can ask for a tour in the city where you will stay, a rental car or a private driver by the day. We answer everything together, so your accommodation, transport and activities are planned by the same team, with one point of contact for the whole trip.

How soon will you answer?

The team receives your request the moment you send it, by email and WhatsApp, and answers by the channel you left: WhatsApp if your number has it, otherwise a call or an email. You also get an email with a summary of the request and its code, which you can quote in any message.
