Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know before booking this tour.

What will I see in Altos de Chavón?
Altos de Chavón is a picturesque village on the eastern side of the Chavón River, known as the city of artists of the Dominican Republic and home to a franchise of the Parsons School of Design in New York. You will see its amphitheater, where international stars perform throughout the year, the museum of pre-Hispanic culture, an art gallery and the Church of San Estanislao, where well-known figures celebrate their weddings.
What other stops does the tour make after Altos de Chavón?
After Altos de Chavón the tour continues to the city of La Romana, with a panoramic view of the sugar cane mill described as the largest in the country. You then visit the Santa Rosa de Lima church and the Central Park, and you also get to see Tabacalera García, the largest cigar factory in the city. The day closes with an artisan shop and a final stop at the Jumbo shopping center.
What time does the tour start and when do we get back?
Pickup is listed at 12:30 pm in your hotel lobby, so this is an afternoon excursion and you can enjoy the morning at the beach. The return time is not consistent across the tour details, so we prefer not to promise a specific hour here. After you book, our team confirms on WhatsApp the exact pickup time for your hotel and the expected return time for your date.
Is transportation from my hotel included, and in which languages is the tour guided?
Yes. Round-trip transportation from your hotel is included in comfortable air-conditioned buses, and you travel with an official bilingual guide who speaks English and Spanish. The route crosses tropical countryside on the way to Altos de Chavón. Pickup points can vary by hotel, so the team confirms your exact meeting spot and time on WhatsApp after you reserve.
Is there time to shop and enjoy Dominican music?
Yes. Near the end of the excursion there is a stop at a shop where you can buy paintings, sculptures and exotic jewelry made by Dominican artisans. A special cocktail is served there and you can dance to bachata, merengue and salsa. The last stop is the Jumbo shopping center, where you can pick up anything you need for the rest of your Caribbean vacation.
What is not included in the price?
The tour price covers hotel pickup and return, the bilingual guide and the visits to the historic sites on the route. Tips for guides and crew, premium and international drinks, souvenirs and personal expenses, and travel insurance are not included. If you plan to buy art, jewelry or cigars at the shopping stops, bring some extra money for those purchases.
How much does it cost for adults and children, and how do I book?
The listed price is 65 dollars per adult, and the child price is also 65 dollars, so children pay the same rate on this tour. You reserve online with a 10 dollar deposit and pay the rest later. Groups have a maximum of 30 participants, so booking ahead helps secure your spot. Our team answers any question 24/7 on WhatsApp before or after you book.
What is the cancellation policy?
You can cancel for free up to 48 hours before the tour. The only exception is the 10 dollar deposit you pay when booking online, which is non-refundable. The tour is run by a licensed local operator with a MITUR license and liability insurance, and our support team is available 24/7 on WhatsApp if you need to change or cancel your reservation.
