Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know before booking this tour.

What stops does the Jeep Safari make?
The safari travels through the forest to Batey Magdalena, a community of Dominican and Haitian families, where you taste sugar cane and hear a short history of how it is produced. Next comes a cigar factory, then the city of Higüey to visit the Basílica de la Altagracia and a typical market with exotic fruits and vegetables, followed by coffee and cocoa plantations and a visit to a Dominican family.
Is lunch included on the safari?
Yes. The tour includes a typical Dominican lunch, served as a buffet at a traditional mountain ranch near the end of the route, and snacks during the ride. On the visit to the Dominican family you also get to taste local coffee and cocoa. Premium and international drinks are not included, so those are paid separately if you want them during the day.
Can I swim or ride horses during the tour?
Yes, at the mountain ranch where lunch is served you have free time to choose. You can take a dip in the clear waters of the Anamulla River or enjoy the mountain scenery on horseback through the tropical plantations. Bring swimwear and a towel if you plan to swim. If you want to know more about either option before your date, our team can answer on WhatsApp.
What vehicle is used and is hotel pickup included?
The route itself is done in a safari jeep or 4x4 safari truck, which lets the group reach the plantations and countryside roads. Round-trip hotel pickup and drop-off is included, and the tour details describe that transfer in an air-conditioned bus. Our team confirms on WhatsApp after booking exactly how and where you will be picked up at your hotel.
What time does the safari start and how long does it last?
The tour lasts about 8 hours, and pickup is listed at 8:00 am in your hotel lobby. The tour description notes that you are back in time to arrange any plans you may have for the evening. Because the exact pickup time depends on your hotel location, our team confirms it on WhatsApp after you book, together with the expected return time for your date.
Who leads the tour and how much does it cost?
You travel with an official bilingual guide who speaks English and Spanish and leads the group through every stop, from the sugar cane tasting to the plantations. The listed price is 95 dollars per adult, and the child price is also 95 dollars. Groups have a maximum of 30 participants. You reserve online with a 10 dollar deposit and pay the rest later.
What should I bring and what is not included?
Bring comfortable clothes, swimwear and a towel for the river, and some cash for the market, the cigar factory and other shopping. Tips for guides and crew, premium and international drinks, souvenirs and personal expenses, and travel insurance are not included in the price. Your guide and our 24/7 WhatsApp team can answer anything else you need before the day.
What is the cancellation policy for the safari?
You can cancel for free up to 48 hours before the safari. The only exception is the 10 dollar deposit paid when you book online, which is non-refundable. The tour is operated by a licensed local operator with a MITUR license and liability insurance. If anything changes with your plans, contact our support team on WhatsApp, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
