About the experience

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know before booking this tour.

What will we see on the Santo Domingo Full Day tour?
The tour covers the Colonial Zone, the oldest part of the first city of the Americas. Stops include the Cathedral of Santa Maria de la Encarnacion, El Conde pedestrian street, Las Damas street, the Museo de las Casas Reales, the National Pantheon, the Alcazar de Colon, Atarazanas street and the Bateria del Almirante, plus a photo stop at the National Palace, the Malecon and a panoramic view of the Columbus Lighthouse.
What is included in the Santo Domingo tour from Punta Cana?
Your booking includes round-trip hotel pickup in a comfortable air-conditioned bus, an official bilingual guide in English and Spanish who explains the history of the city along the way, a guided tour of the Colonial Zone, visits to historic sites and lunch at a local restaurant. Groups have up to 30 participants. Tips, premium and international drinks, souvenirs, personal expenses and travel insurance are not included.
What is lunch like on this tour?
Lunch is served at a typical restaurant designed like a small farm, where the scents of cinnamon and ginger greet you and you are welcomed to the rhythm of merengue. The meal is the traditional Dominican dish known as la bandera dominicana. Premium and international drinks are not included. If you have an allergy or follow a special diet, tell our team on WhatsApp after booking so they can check with the restaurant.
Which places do we visit up close and which are panoramic?
Most of the Colonial Zone is explored on foot: you walk its narrow colonial streets, pay tribute at the First Cathedral of the Americas, stroll El Conde and Las Damas, and visit the Museo de las Casas Reales, the National Pantheon and the Alcazar de Colon. At the National Palace you get off the bus briefly for photos, and the Columbus Lighthouse is a panoramic visit. Ask us on WhatsApp about any entrance fees.
How long does the trip from Punta Cana take?
It is a full-day excursion of about 8 hours. You board the air-conditioned bus at dawn, and the guide uses the ride to introduce the history of the First City of the Americas before you arrive. The day includes the walking tour, lunch, the drive along the Malecon and the return to your hotel. The exact pickup time depends on your hotel location, and our team confirms it on WhatsApp after booking.
What should I wear and bring for a day in the Colonial Zone?
Since much of the visit is on foot along old cobbled streets such as El Conde, Las Damas and Atarazanas, wear comfortable walking shoes and light clothing. Bring sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, water and a camera for the cathedral, the Alcazar and the National Palace. Because you also enter a cathedral and museums, modest clothing is a good idea. Carry cash for tips, souvenirs and personal purchases.
Who is this tour best for, and is there a child price?
It is ideal for travelers staying in the Punta Cana area who want to discover Dominican history and culture: colonial architecture, museums, the First Cathedral of the Americas and the modern capital along the Malecon. It suits couples, friends and families who are comfortable walking. The listed child price is the same as the adult price, $120 per person. For questions about young children, message us on WhatsApp.
How do I book the Santo Domingo Full Day and what if I need to cancel?
You reserve online with a $10 deposit and pay the rest of the tour later. Cancellation is free up to 48 hours before the tour, except for the $10 deposit, which is non-refundable. The excursion is operated by a licensed local operator with a MITUR license and liability insurance, the guide speaks English and Spanish, and our team gives 24/7 support on WhatsApp for pickup times or any change.
